The Queen and Me: at the Diamond Jubilee

Over the weekend, I was part of the team producing the BBCs coverage of the Diamond Jubilee.

I spent four days in an edit suite in the media compound by the gates to Buckingham Palace in Green Park, working with an extremely talented editor Andy Richards.

Together we produced literally hours of coverage of the events for the three highlights programmes which went out between Sunday and Tuesday night – along with three other VT teams, led by producer Glenn Barton.

Here are some of my behind the scenes photos:

Paul McCartney rehearsing: we were able to watch, but because we were editing we had to have the sound down!

Here I am checking the script for the intro to Tuesday's highlights programme

Editing Sunday's river pageant for that evening's highlights programme

Green Park, where the outside broadcast trucks were parked, became a complete bog in the rain

Robbie Williams rehearsing on Sunday for the Jubilee Concert (yes, he is there really!)

Script supervisor Laura Vine snuck out to watch Robbie rehearsing

Me with Garrison Sgt Major Bill Mott, who is responsible for ceremonial events. Here he is in dress down mode - usually he's in Guards uniform, complete with bearskin

Some of the many many miles of cabling that were needed for three full days broadcasting

The running orders for Tuesday's programmes

While we were editing, the door fell off our satellite truck ...
